Crypto Market Slips 2% as Bitcoin Holds Firm Near $81,000, Axis Robotics Craters 35%

Pepe and a small bitcoin-tracked token called Bitway led a thin list of gainers Tuesday even as the broader crypto market shed more than $50 billion in value.

Crypto Market Slips 2% as Bitcoin Holds Firm Near $81,000, Axis Robotics Craters 35%

The total crypto market capitalization fell 2.09% over 24 hours to $2.73 trillion, with $64.6 billion in trading volume changing hands across the sector. Bitcoin, the market's anchor, bucked the downdraft, rising 0.51% to $80,930.52 and pushing its dominance share to 59.45% of total crypto value — a sign traders rotated toward the largest asset while smaller tokens broadly retreated. Ether's dominance sat at 10.50%, well behind bitcoin's grip on the market.

The day's sharpest move came from Axis Robotics (AXIS), which plunged 34.77% to $0.1677, making it the single steepest decline tracked across trending and ranked coins. The token, ranked 709th by market cap, showed no stabilizing bounce in the data, marking a dramatic reversal for a name that had drawn enough search interest to land on trending lists.

On the gainers' side, Bitway (BTW) topped the list with an 8.68% jump to $1.73, narrowly ahead of Pepe (PEPE), up 8.61% to $0.00000485. LEO Token climbed 4.30% to $9.42, while Litecoin added 3.11% to reach $58.41. Toncoin, now trading under the rebranded ticker GRAM, rose 2.06% to $1.24. The gains were modest in percentage terms compared to Axis Robotics' collapse, underscoring how lopsided volatility was skewed toward the downside Tuesday.

Among trending searches, two lower-cap names stood out for outsized moves: Quantus (QTC), ranked 765th, surged 7.51% to $80.05, and Kinetiq (KNTQ) gained 6.73% to $0.4489. Derive (DRV) also moved higher, up 4.50% to $0.3811. Elsewhere in the trending basket, Ethena (ENA) dropped 3.41% to $0.2026 — a decline echoed in the losers list, where Ethena also appeared down 3.29% at a slightly different data snapshot of $0.203059, confirming sustained selling pressure on the token through the session.

Other notable laggards included Rain (RAIN), down 2.76% to $0.00699342, MemeCore (M), off 2.10% at $1.042, and Bitcoin Cash (BCH), down 1.82% to $283.80. BlackRock's tokenized fund BUIDL held flat at exactly $1, as expected for the dollar-pegged institutional product. Among trending large-caps, Solana (SOL) edged up 1.17% to $101.98, Chainlink (LINK) rose 1.72% to $11.66, and Zcash (ZEC) slipped 0.87% to $1,284.01 — still commanding a top-10 market cap rank despite the dip. With more than 22,500 active cryptocurrencies tracked, Tuesday's session illustrated a familiar pattern: bitcoin stability at the top, sharp pockets of volatility among smaller tokens, and a market cap retreat driven largely by altcoin weakness rather than a broad bitcoin selloff.
